Huawei’s competitiveness and market share in the mobile phone market will be negatively impacted regardless of whether it can get handset parts after September 15, Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a report released today. This is due to the fact that the US placed Huawei under a blacklist, which stops them from doing business with US-based companies such as Google, Qualcomm, and potentially more.
HUAWEI EARNED $35 MILLION EVERYDAY THROUGHOUT THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR
Huawei achieved an operating income of 450.7 billion yuan ($65.6 billion) in the first half of 2020 (H1 2020).Within the same period, its net profit is 43.1 billion yuan ($6.2 billion), a year-on-year increase of 23.49%. This means that Huawei made about $35 million in profit every day throughout H1 2020.This is due to the fact that the US placed Huawei under a blacklist, which stops them from doing business with US-based companies such as Google, Qualcomm, and potentially more.
The US Commerce Department further tightened restrictions on Huawei’s access to US technology, while adding Huawei’s 38 subsidiaries in 21 countries to its “entity list.
There are reports that claim Huawei has ordered 120 million chips from MediaTek, and seven of the mobile phones released this year have used MediaTek chips.chipmaker MediaTek said the company has applied to the United States in accordance with regulations, in an effort to continue to supply Huawei after September 15,earlier this week.
The US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) issued a revised ban on Huawei, restricting it from using products made with US technology and software.Which means MediaTek will need to submit an application to the US, or it will not be able to supply Huawei after September 15.
