MediaTek is working on the first 6nm chipset and has at least three different versions, probably the future Dimensity model. The middle child, MT6893, seems to be the closest to completion and has already seen a trade blow with the Snapdragon 865 in early Geekbench tests.
Now, the AnTuTu team is discovering new chips in the database, and composite benchmarks show that Dimensity actually outperforms Qualcomm’s outgoing flagship chipset.

AnTuTu score: MediaTek MT6893 (6 nm) • Exynos 1080 (5 nm) • Kirin 9000 (5 nm)
The GPU proved to be slightly faster, although it was slightly behind in terms of CPU performance (matching Geekbench results). The results come from a development board with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 90Hz display (1,080 x 2,300 pixels). The memory score is also a little higher than the Snapdragon-equipped phone (Oppo Find X2 Pro) used for comparison.
The MT6893 is built around four Cortex-A78 CPU cores. The prime core operates up to 3.0GHz and the other three are limited to 2.6GHz. There are also four A55 cores. This is similar to Exynos 1080.
For GPUs, MediaTek chose the Mali-G77 MC9 and Samsung chose the new G78 core. The Dimensity chip aims to be premium, but it’s not a flagship device. MediaTek is preparing the MT6895 for that role (the third chip we’ve heard is the MT6891).

AnTuTu’s results have been edited from a previous leak and compare some of the chipsets they plan to sell in the high-end market next year. Please note that these are preliminary results. In actual device testing, the positions may swap.
With some manufacturers migrating from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 series to the 700 series due to cost, MediaTek can offer a cost-effective and cost-effective alternative. However, there is a conflict because Samsung is talking to Xiaomi and Oppo. Xiaomi and Oppo may have adopted Exynos on some models.
