Motorola Edge+ does competitive videos, good photos according to DxOMark – TechWeu

The Motorola Edge+ is Moto’s first earnest attempt at a flagship in a while. On paper, it promised great results from its 108MP main camera with a large 1/1.33” sensor and its friends, the 3x telephoto cam and ultrawide shooter.

It achieved an overall score of 113 in DxOMark’s tests – not enough to get into the current Top 10, but it’s in the company of some 2019 greats like the Galaxy S10+ and OnePlus 7T Pro.

Motorola Edge+ shows competitive video capture in DxOMark review, good photography skills

The photography score of 119 is a built on the good quality shots delivered by the main and the ultrawide cameras. Images are detailed with good colors, noise is kept low. Autofocus proved very reliable and accurate in all lighting conditions. The wide lens is not all that wide, however.

What really holds the Edge+ back is the third camera on its back – the zoom module. Digital zoom is used up to 3x and despite having a high resolution 108MP sensor, the results are middle of the road. At 3x and beyond, the phone relies on the 8MP zoom camera, but that loses sharpness quickly.

The Video score of 101 is higher than the S10+ and 7T Pro managed. In fact, it puts it in competition with more current flagships like the Galaxy S20 Ultra and iPhone Pro Max (both of which outscored it by a single point).

4K/30fps videos have good detail and dynamic range, here the 108MP sensor does shine. The phone does especially well when recording in the dark, keeping noise levels lower than the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
