OnePlus presented Nord N10 5G and N100: midrange with LCD screens and Snapdragon chipsets- Techweu

OnePlus broke out of its “only flagship” form with the launch of Nord, now the company is ready to dive even further into the middle class and even graze the upper end of the beginner market. In other words, Nord is now a series of telephones.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G

The OnePlus N10 5G stays close to the original formula with an intermediate Snapdragon, 90Hz screen, and a 64MP main camera. The N10 aims for a lower price level, however, so affordable considerations led to some changes.

The new model has a 6.49-inch screen with 1080p + resolution. It’s a big change from the original Nord – the panel is now an LCD, the first on an OnePlus since the OnePlus 2 2015. Of course, this concerns the fingerprint reader on the back.

The rear camera on the Nord N10 is actually slightly better equipped than the original, as it has a 64MP sensor inside the main camera while maintaining the 119 ° ultra-wide lens and dedicated macro and depth modules.

A couple of things changed with the selfie camera. Good news – it’s just a single hole. Bad news – the 32MP main camera drops to 16MP and the ultra-wide lens is (obviously) gone.

The battery navigated the price reduction measures quite well. With a capacity of 4,300 mAh, it is a fraction larger than the Nord battery and it charges just as fast with the Warp Charge 30T (no wireless on both models).

The N10 is powered by the Snapdragon 690 chipset, which is similar to the S765G chip but with several important differences. Long story short, it uses two new large Kryo 560 CPU cores (vs. 475) and a slightly downgraded GPU, the Adreno 619L. The X51 modem only supports the sub-6 flavor of 5G, but the original Nord did not have a mmWave connection, so it is a wash.

Before judging the choices OnePlus made, let’s tell you the price – an OnePlus Nord N10 5G will cost € 330 / £ 330. And that’s with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. By comparison, an original Nord with 8/128 GB of memory costs £ 380.

Here, however, is the catch. Both new Nords have expandable memory, which can tip the scales if you have high storage requirements.

Unlike the original Nordic region, these two will be launched in the US, although the exact details will be revealed at a later date.

OnePlus Nord N100

OnePlus Nord N100 (no 5G here) is the entry-level offer, the price starts at € 180 / £ 180 for a phone with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. But again, storage can be easily extended with a cheap microSD card.

This phone is based on the Snapdragon 460 chipset, a budget of 11 nm with Cortex-A73 derived cores and an Adreno 610.

The N100 has a 6.52-inch LCD screen with 900 x 1600 px resolution, so a little over 720p + but not really 1080p + (and standard refresh rate). Unlike the N10, this one has stereo speakers. As there is a fingerprint reader on the back.

OnePlus decided to focus on longer battery life for this model, its power cell has 5,000 mAh capacity, at the expense of the charging speed, which goes up to only 18 W (given the extra capacity, Warp would have been nice).

This phone is equipped with a 13MP main camera, so photography is pretty basic. It is technically a triple camera, but 67% of it is a dedicated macro lens and a depth sensor.

Both Nord N100 and N10 are launched with OxygenOS 10.5. It is still based on Android 10 but has the latest enhancements from OnePlus. The phones will arrive in Europe at the beginning of next month and will soon be on the other side of the dam.
