Oppo A17 appeared in leaks over the weekend, and now the phone is official. The smartphone comes with a Mediatek chipset, big battery and dual cameras, and its key selling point is the back panel that has a texture that imitates leather.
This entirely new phone has a 6.56” LCD with HD+ resolution and no fancy refresh rate, just 60 Hz. There is a waterdrop notch for the 5 MP f/2.2 selfie camera with fixed focus. The dual shooters on the back are a 50 MP f/1.8 cam with AF and a 2 MP depth sensor.
The chipset is a Helio G35, similar to a handful of other Oppo A smartphones, including the A16, A16s, and A16K. RAM is listed as 4 GB which can be slightly expanded at the expense of the 64 GB storage.
The official specs sheet is missing at that moment and third-party retailers also cannot provide info on whether a micro SD port is present or not. We do know the Oppo A17 is dual-SIM.
The battery of the A17 is 5,000 mAh, charged through a micro USB port. Other features include IPX4 water resistance, a fingerprint scanner embedded in the power key, and ColorOS 12.1. The leather back is available both in the Lake Blue and Midnight Black colors .
The phone is currently available in Malaysia for MYR599, which is about $130. It is also up for pre-order in Singapore but the set price of SGD999 is a placeholder – it should cost under SGD200 once the sale begins in three weeks.
