Qualcomm announced a new flagship chipset called the Snapdragon 888 earlier this week. We expected an upper midrange platform to come out, but the San Diego company had nothing to share about the new 700 series top dogs.
According to one Weibo leak star, the new chipset will be introduced in the first quarter of 2021 and will begin shipping almost immediately.
Qualcomm’s new 7-series chipset is expected to be a major competitor to 5nm Exynos 1080 with an integrated 5G modem and Mediatek’s MT6893 platform (an unannounced 6nm upper midrange).
So far, we know virtually nothing about the new Snapdragon 7xx, except for model number SM7350 and codenamed Cedros (relatively close to Qualcomm’s headquarters in San Diego), named after the island off Mexico. ..
Prototypes for this platform have exceeded 530,000 with AnTuTu. In short, it outperforms the SD765G but is one step behind last year’s flagship product, the SD865, which easily exceeds 600,000 on the same benchmark platform.
