Samsung’s Smart Things app helps track your galaxy smartphone location-Techweu

So far, Samsung phone owners have been able to use the company’s Find My Mobile and Google’s Find My Device to find misplaced or stolen phones. Today, Samsung is introducing a new service called Smart Things Find. It works on all Galaxy smartphones and tablets running Android 8 and above, and can also be used to track Galaxy Watch devices (running Tizen 5.5 and above) and wearables such as Galaxy Buds Live and Buds Plus. This is part of a new update to Samsung’s SmartThings app, which is already in operation in most parts of the world.

The service comes with some cool new features like AR-based Search Neighborhood that will guide you in real-time to your misplaced device. It depends on Ultra Wideband (UWB) Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to find the missing Galaxy device. Ultra-wideband is currently dedicated to the Galaxy Note 20 series and ZFold 2. It has the advantage of operating at higher frequencies than Bluetooth and is useful for spatial and directional data.

SmartThings Find also has the option to opt in to help other Galaxy users find their lost device, even when offline. If the device goes offline for more than 30 minutes, it will start sending BLE signals and will be able to receive them on other Galaxy devices.
