Apple has announced a new App Store Small Business Program. With this new program, small developers are eligible to reduce App Store pricing.

Developers with less than $ 1 million in revenue from the previous calendar year can participate. From now on, they will take a 15% reduction in total revenue as a commission to Apple instead of the usual 30% they had to pay before.

When the developer makes more than $ 1 million in revenue, he will automatically switch to the standard 30% rate. However, if it falls below $ 1 million, it is eligible for the Small Business Program.

Due to the fairly low cutoff, this program will not affect large companies or even indie developers using highly successful apps. Instead, it is designed to support the growth of small developers and businesses, many of which have switched to an online business model this year for a pandemic.

Details of this program will be released in December. The program itself will start on January 1, 2021.
