Best Laptops Under ₹80,000 in India (2026) — TechWeu buying guide

TechWeu is a participant in the Amazon Associates Programme. We earn a small commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. This never affects our rankings — we recommend what we would actually buy.

Looking for the best laptops under ₹80,000 in India? This is the first band where you can buy out of the 250-nit, 45%-NTSC panel every cheaper laptop ships – and where a lot of the money is being spent on badges instead.

Our ₹50,000 guide ended with a warning: most of that band is the same 2023 silicon behind a 250-nit, 45%-NTSC panel. Thirty thousand rupees more should fix both. Having gone through every laptop Amazon lists between ₹60,000 and ₹80,000, it fixes one of them reliably – and only if you know which line on the spec sheet to read.

The short version: at ₹80,000 the money should go into the screen. OLED, 16:10, 300-400 nits – that is the upgrade you can see every minute you use the machine. The processor upgrade is real but smaller than the badge suggests, and a surprising number of ₹70,000 listings are the ₹50,000 laptop with a bigger SSD.

Best laptops under ₹80,000: the 60-second answer

  • Best overall – Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 (i5-13420H, OLED): an 8-core H-class chip, a 14″ WUXGA OLED, 16GB in two slots and a 1TB SSD. Around ₹76,990.
  • Best ultraportable – Acer Swift Lite 14 (Core Ultra 5 115U, OLED): 400-nit WUXGA OLED at 1.1kg. Around ₹72,950.
  • Most CPU – Acer Aspire 5 (Core Ultra 5 125H): 14 cores in a 14″ 16:10 IPS machine. Around ₹72,990.
  • For games and creative work – Acer ALG (i7-13620H, RTX 3050 6GB): the only dedicated GPU that fits the budget. Around ₹79,990.
  • Battery-first – ASUS Vivobook 16 (Snapdragon X): Windows on ARM with a 16″ 300-nit 16:10 screen at ₹61,990 – with one caveat you must read first.
  • Skip: any ₹70,000 laptop still listing “250 nits, 45% NTSC”. That is the ₹50,000 panel.

The panel is where ₹80,000 changes your life

Every laptop in our ₹30,000 and ₹50,000 guides shipped a 15.6″ 1080p panel rated at 250 nits and 45% NTSC. It is the industry’s floor: dim outdoors, washed-out colours, and a 16:9 shape that wastes vertical space in every document you open.

Here, for the first time, you can buy out of it:

  • Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 – 14″ WUXGA (1920×1200) OLED. 16:10, self-emissive pixels, true blacks.
  • Acer Swift Lite 14 – 14″ WUXGA OLED, 400 nits typical. The brightest stated panel in the band.
  • Acer Aspire 5 – 14″ WUXGA IPS. Not OLED, but 16:10 and IPS.
  • HP Pavilion 16 – 16″ WUXGA IPS with a 1080p IR camera – the only one here that names a Full HD webcam.
  • ASUS Vivobook 16 – 16″ FHD+ (1920×1200), 300 nits.

Against those, the HP 15 (Ryzen 7 7730U) at ₹70,999, the Lenovo V15 (Ryzen 7 7730U) at ₹68,890 and the Acer TravelLite at ₹66,999 all list the same “FHD, 250 nits, 45% NTSC” line the ₹50,000 machines carry. Their processors are fine; their screens are not what ₹70,000 should buy in 2026.

What the processor badges actually mean

The band is a soup of naming schemes – “13th Gen i5”, “Core 5 120U”, “Core Ultra 5 115U”, “Core Ultra 5 125H”, “Ryzen 7 7730U”, “Snapdragon X”. Published core counts cut through it:

  • Core Ultra 5 125H (Acer Aspire 5): 14 cores. The most CPU in the band; the H suffix means a higher power budget.
  • Core i5-13420H (Lenovo Slim 5): 8 cores / 12 threads, up to 4.6GHz. Older generation, but H-class and quick.
  • Ryzen 7 7730U (HP 15, Lenovo V15, Dell 15): 8 cores / 16 threads, Zen 3. Strong multi-thread, three-year-old architecture.
  • Core Ultra 5 115U (Acer Swift Lite): 8 cores, up to 4.2GHz. A low-power U chip – fine for office work, not a performance part despite the “Ultra” name.
  • Core 5 120U (HP Professional 15, Samsung Book4): 10 cores. Also a low-power U part.
  • Snapdragon X X1-26-100 (ASUS Vivobook 16): 8 cores, 45 TOPS NPU. ARM – see the caveat below.

“AI powered” in a title tells you the laptop has an NPU. It does not tell you the CPU is fast; the Dell 15 “AI Powered” listings at ₹70,490 and ₹72,990 ship 8GB of RAM, which is the actual limiting factor.

RAM: check the slot count, not the number

Every pick here ships 16GB, but how it is fitted decides whether the machine lasts five years:

  • Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5: 2 x 8GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM – upgradable.
  • Acer Aspire 5, HP Pavilion 16, Acer ALG: 16GB in SO-DIMM form, so upgradable.
  • Acer Swift Lite 14, ASUS Vivobook 16, HP OmniBook 5: 16GB LPDDR5(x) – soldered in the thin-and-light class. What you buy is what you keep.
  • Dell 15 “AI Powered” (₹70,490 / ₹72,990): 8GB single stick. Avoid at this price.

The one laptop in the band that gets every line right: an H-class 8-core Intel, an OLED 16:10 panel, 16GB in two upgradable slots, a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, a backlit keyboard and an FHD camera. Its chip is a generation behind the Core Ultra machines, but it is an H part – it will out-run the “Ultra 5 115U” in the Swift under sustained load. At ₹76,990 it is the pick if you want one laptop to do everything for five years.

Scored from published specifications against our open scoring rubric. Spec-derived, not a lab measurement — we tell you where every number comes from.

1.1kg with a 400-nit OLED is a combination that used to cost over a lakh. The trade is the processor: the 115U is a low-power 8-core, capable for office work, browsers and light editing, not for compiling or rendering. If your laptop lives in a bag, this is the one; if it lives on a desk, the Lenovo is faster for less.

Fourteen cores and an 18MB cache in a 14″ 16:10 machine at ₹72,990 – the most raw CPU in the band, and it charges over USB-C. The panel is IPS rather than OLED; if you code, compile or run local models, that is the right trade.

The only dedicated GPU under ₹80,000: an RTX 3050 with 6GB, paired with a 10-core i7 and a 144Hz panel. It is the machine for 1080p gaming, video editing with GPU acceleration and CUDA work. The compromises are the ones gaming laptops always carry – a 45% NTSC panel, no OLED, and around 2kg. We cover the whole “gaming under budget” question in a separate guide this week.

Scored from published specifications against our open scoring rubric. Spec-derived, not a lab measurement — we tell you where every number comes from.

At ₹61,990 this is the cheapest 16GB, 16:10, 300-nit laptop in the band, and Snapdragon X machines are built for battery life. The caveat: it runs Windows on ARM. Mainstream apps – Office, Chrome, Teams, Photoshop – run natively; some specialist software, older games, certain VPN and printer drivers do not, or run through emulation. If your work depends on one particular Windows program, check it before buying. If it does not, this is a lot of laptop for the money.

A good Zen 3 chip behind the 50,000-rupee panel, with a USB-C port that only moves data.

Silicon7.0
Display4.5
Build5.5
Longevity6.0
Value5.7

Scored from published specifications against our open scoring rubric. Spec-derived, not a lab measurement — we tell you where every number comes from.

The processor is good – a Zen 3 8-core. But the listing reads “FHD, anti-glare, 250 nits, 45% NTSC”, and the USB-C port “supports data transfer only and does not support charging or external monitors”. That is a ₹50,000 chassis at ₹71,000. The Lenovo V15 and Acer TravelLite with the same chip have the same problem.

Spend less, wait, or stretch?

Spend less if your work is browsers, Office and video calls: the ASUS Vivobook 16 Snapdragon X at ₹61,990 does all of that on a better screen than most ₹75,000 x86 laptops, provided your apps run on ARM. Or drop to our ₹50,000 guide and accept the panel.

Wait if you want OLED and a Core Ultra H chip in one machine – that pairing sits just above ₹80,000 today and drifts down every festive sale.

Stretch only for one reason: the MacBook Air. It did not appear under ₹80,000 in our search (the only “MacBook” result was a replacement screen assembly), but it sits just above the band and remains the benchmark for battery life and build. If your budget can bend that far, that is the stretch worth making.

Those are the best laptops under ₹80,000 in India as the listings stand: put the money in the screen, read the RAM slot count, and treat the word Ultra as a description of the NPU, not the speed.
