Samsung to launch under-display camera on laptop before phone debut-Techweu

With the announcement of the Galaxy S21 scheduled for later today, Samsung Display has posted a teaser for the next laptop with an OLED display that also has an under display camera. The device in question is called Blade Bezel and will be the first product in Samsung’s portfolio to put the camera under the display. The accompanying teaser video shows the laptop and is primarily focused on its display.

The blade bezel OLED panel is advertised to be only 1mm thick and weigh 130 grams. Thanks to the additional screen space from the removed bezel, laptops are advertised to have a screen-to-body ratio of 93%. I don’t know the actual dimensions of the laptop, but I’m hoping for a slim, lightweight ultra-portable notebook.

Samsung has been rumored to be working on implementing UD cameras in mobile phones for some time, but the results are still not optimal and test water on laptops before making the technology a smaller form factor. It seems easier. Early speculation is that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the first Samsung phone to debut with a UD camera later this year.
