Zee5’s short video platform HiPi will overcome TikTok’s shortage-TechWeu

59 Chinese apps were banned in India on Monday, of which the most popular app is TikTok. With the banning of TikTok, opportunities have increased for developers in the Indian market, with everyone offering their own short video app option instead of TikTok. After the success of the Mitron and Chingari apps, now Zee5 is also preparing to enter this race. Yes, Zee5 has announced that it will soon be launching a short video platform in India called HiPi. The company says that this new platform has been built under ‘Self-reliant India’, which will provide an Indian platform to Indian content creators.This new HiPi platform of Zee5 will be launched before July 15, with access to Zee5 App.

Not much information related to this new app has been shared. However, the screenshot shared suggests that registration will be required to use this new platform, after which users will be able to view and share the video. From this, it can be guessed that this new platform of Zee 5 will be slightly different from the Chinese platform, in the Chinese app, TikTok users did not require any registration and sign-in to view the uploaded video. Without creating an account, the video could be seen on TikTok.

HiPi’s entry is happening at an interesting time, when the Indian government has banned 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, in India. In such a situation, for those who were searching for the option of Tiktok, Haipai could be a new option. However, HiPi is not the only platform that can meet the shortage of TikTok in India, even before this platform, there are many apps which are proving to be quite successful as an alternative to TikTok. Such as Bolo Indya, Chingari, Mitron, and Roposo App.

Zee 5 of Zee Entertainment Enterprises already has 1.25 lakh hours of video demand, with over 100 live TV channels. The app was competing with apps like OTT platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and SonyLIV, but is now allowing users to create their own short videos by entering on the short video platform, after which this app is now The competition will be from platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

Recently Zee 5 provided free access to Zee 5 for Jio Fiber, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea customers. In addition, Zee 5 Kids recently provided over 4,000 free content for children on its platform, which supports 9 languages.
