Earlier today, Weibo’s Huawei fan account reported that the nova 9 series would be available next month.Tarekomi after a few hours @WHYLAB I dug up one of the phones on the TENAA website that started the authentication process.
The model number of the phone is RTL-AL00 and may not boot by itself. The two photos uploaded show that the device got design clues from the Honor 50 Pro. The pill-shaped camera bump with circular elements is reminiscent of the Huawei P50 series.
As you can see in the picture, this device (RTL-AL00) has a curved display (that is, OLED) with dual selfie and quad cameras on the back.
Back in the Honor 50 Pro, it was the first phone with the Snapdragon 778G chipset (along with the Vanilla 50). The Huawei nova 9 series has been reported to use a slightly weaker chipset, but it’s still unclear whether it’s Snapdragon or Dimensity.

In any case, there are rumors that this will be a 5G-enabled phone. This is surprising given that even the flagship Huawei P50 series settled on 4G (even while using two 5G-capable chipsets). The new nova model does run HarmonyOS, and older models (dating back to nova 5i and 4e) have also been switched to Huawei’s own OS.
The Huawei nova 9 series is still in the early stages of getting the required certification, and it is expected that details will be leaked as the launch approaches. The new series will be announced in mid-September.
