Realme Pad will get Android 12 after all, update timeframe revealed -Techweu

Published on:

Realme launched its first tablet with Android 11 in September last year, called the Realme Pad. While Realme hasn’t made any promises about version updates, company employees recently said that the Realme Pad won’t receive Android 12, much to the disappointment of anyone who bought it. But Realme confirmed today that the Realme Pad will indeed ship with Android 12, much to the relief of tablet owners.

While this is definitely good news, Realme Pad users will have to wait several months as Android 12 will be released in the third quarter of 2022, which means sometime between July and September. It’s unclear if Android 12 will be the last version update for the Realme Pad, or if the company will release Android 13 as well. We’ve reached out to Realme for clarification and will update this story if we hear back.

Realme has revealed that Android 12 will bring an enhanced lock screen and notification UI to the Realme Pad with scrolling screenshots, a dedicated one-handed mode, and improved widgets.

Additionally, Realme promises three years of security updates for the Realme Pad, but it remains to be seen how often the young brand will release it.

Despite being a first-generation product, we loved the Realme Pad when we reviewed it, and the tablet earned a spot on our list of the best tablets of 2021. You can read our detailed Realme Pad review here to learn more or watch the video review linked below.
