Samsung launched the Galaxy A22 4G and 5G in June last year, and in November the Galaxy A22s 5G, which was just the rebranded A22 5G. While we wait for the South Korean conglomerate to unveil the Galaxy A23, we’re now hearing that a new smartphone may go official soon – the Galaxy A22e 5G.
The Samsung Galaxy A22e 5G has been certified by the Bluetooth SIG, one step closer to launch.The certification body did not reveal the specifications of the A22e 5G, but it told us that the smartphone has the model name SC-56B, which is Same as Galaxy A22 5G Launched in Japan Last year, that meant the A22e 5G could share specs with the Japanese Galaxy A22 5G.

It is worth noting that the Japanese Galaxy A22 5G and the Galaxy A22 5G released in June last year have different specifications. First off, the Japanese model has a smaller TFT screen (5.8″), lower resolution (HD+) and 60Hz refresh rate, packs a smaller battery (4,000 mAh), and has a total of two cameras instead of four – one 13MP main camera unit on the back and 5MP selfie shooter inside the notch.
The Japanese Galaxy A22 5G is 8.9 mm thick, weighs 168 grams, and has an IP68 rating. It also has an onboard NFC chip, but skips the side-mounted fingerprint reader. The smartphone boots Android 11 and comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. However, it also has a microSD card slot to expand storage up to 1TB.
Global Galaxy A22 5G • Japan Galaxy A22 5G
Samsung said that the Japanese Galaxy A22 5G uses an octa-core processor with a maximum clock frequency of 2.2GHz for the power core and 2GHz for the efficiency core. Samsung didn’t mention the chipset by name, but it’s likely the Dimensity 700 SoC we’re using on the non-Japanese A22 5G.
It’s unclear when Samsung will unveil the Galaxy A22e 5G, but you can expect to learn more about it as it gets more certifications.
