As we wait for Motorola’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Edge 30 Ultra, to finally become official, some of its accessories have leaked today.
We’re talking about the Motorola Smart Stylus and the Folio Case. It’s no coincidence that these leaked together, as the Folio Case is designed in such a way that the stylus is placed on the back, as shown below.
When the stylus is removed, there are apparently software triggers, including detecting when it’s been out of the case for a long time but hasn’t been used – you’ll get an alert for that.
Each time you remove the stylus, you can open specific apps, which may vary depending on whether your phone was locked or unlocked when you removed the stylus. You can also set your phone to automatically enable Bluetooth when you pull out the stylus (which makes sense since it connects via Bluetooth).
The stylus charges automatically wirelessly in the case, and it supports air gestures – you can use it as an air mouse with an external monitor, and the buttons can be used for media controls. Compared to the stylus in the Moto G Stylus (2022), the stylus is described by one source as “next-gen”. When it’s connected to the phone, the bubble shows its status – whether it’s charging or not, and a list of apps that support it.
On the front, the case has an open strip in the middle of the display to display an always-on display, formatted to fit the case’s “window”, as shown in the first image below.

When you receive a call, you can answer the call by sliding through the opening of the case, as shown in the second picture above. That means you don’t have to open the case to talk – or refuse to answer the call.
Obviously, “Folio Case” isn’t the name of the accessory, so it could be called something else at launch. It’s unclear if the Smart Stylus and case will be exactly the same as the Edge 30 Ultra, or a little later – hopefully they will at least be released in a wide geographic area.
